At the Insurance Athletic Association Pentathlon in the Mile End Stadium in London on Wednesday, Tiptree Road Runners' Chris Applegate made both his pentathlon and track debut.
In the field events, Chris gave performances a 10 year old would probably have equalled but made the highest individual score in the 1500 metres event to finish well ahead of everybody in a time of 4:34.
Chris was the only debutante in the top places and was delighted to finish fourth overall.
At the 2.8 Mile Grand Prix Race, Forbanks Club in Beckenham on Thursday, Chris made his first appearance in the Grand Prix with a good effort against high class opposition on a hot and humid evening and ran a time of 0:15:18 to finish 15th.
In the Brantham Festival Five Mile Race Tiptree saw Baron Beckett just missed the 30 minute barrier with an excellent run, followed closely by V55 Roger Duffield, whose sons Mark and Daniel both finished inside the top 10 in the junior race.
In the supporting junior race Mark Duffield led a successful Tiptree trio into third, fourth and fifth placing.
