SWANS disabled adults club has unveiled plans to supporters for a new home at the Blackwater Medical Centre in Maldon.
The club held a special dinner on Sunday and launched Project 2000 to create new premises at the centre which is next to their current site at St Cedd's House in Princes Road.
The club plans to apply for various grants to cover the £75,000 costs of the move and is now appealing to the public to help raise £40,000 to equip the new building.
Details of the scheme are being finalised for submission to Maldon District Council for planning permission.
Co-ordinator Julia Dowling said: "It is going to be very exciting. It will give us more possibilities to increase our existing services and courses.
"We also hope to franchise out a restaurant so we can serve hot meals."
SWANS are hoping businesses and individuals will join them in raising cash to equip the new centre.
Two forthcoming fund-raisers are a strawberry tea on Saturday July 24 at Heybridge community hall. Any charity which would like a stall at the event for a £5 donation can contact 01621 841491.
A major fun run on October 3 is also planned at the Promenade Park. There are three races - a three mile open race, a two mile wheelchair race and an under 15s event.
Children under eight should be accompanied and there are prizes in 13 categories. Entrance is £5 on the day or £4 in advance and under 15s a £1.
For entry details contact the above number of John Roberts on 01621 854621.
