Chelmsford's Thomas Weare has achieved every golfer's dream -- a hole-in-one -- and he is just 11 years old.

Thomas's memorable shot came just over a week ago at the Hylands Golf Complex in Margaretting.

Using a 5 iron, his 120 yards, hole-in-one was off the red tee of the sixth hole on the 'Priors' nine hole course.

Thomas, who lives with his mother Julie and sisters Fabiann, 10, and Georgina, five, said: "I play golf at Hylands as well as the Pitch-and-Putt course in Waterhouse Lane, Chelmsford with my dad Andrew, whenever I can, and I was amazed to see the ball go straight in the hole."

A pupil at the Southend High School for Boys, Thomas added: "I have been playing golf for just over a year and got my first set of clubs on my 10th birthday.

"I also like playing cricket and tennis and one day, I would like to become a professional golfer."

Thomas recently took part in a charity day to raise funds for the Red Cross at Forrester Park Golf Club, and said: "That was a good day and we raised quite a lot of money."

Mum Julie, and dad Andrew, said: "We are all extremely proud of Thomas's achievement and he has the prospects of becoming a top golfer but we won't put any pressure on him, it will be entirely his decision."
