Police are investigating the alleged rape of a 15-year-old schoolgirl in Clacton.
The youngster was said to have endured the attack on a grassed area of wasteground near Langham Drive on the Percy King Estate in the early hours of Saturday.
Det Sgt Mick Ornellas said the girl was being comforted by family and friends.
He said: "The girl seems to be coping well with the situation and no doubt has the support of family and those around her."
A 19-year-old man was questioned by officers at Clacton police station in connection with the incident and was released on bail without charge.
He is due to appear back at the station in six weeks.
