Separate accidents have claimed the lives of two men.
A motorcyclist died after his bike was in collision with a car in Little Braxted.
Metal worker Brian Robson, 22, of Highfields Lane, Kelvedon, was certified dead at the scene of the accident, which happened at around 12.20pm on Saturday.
Police say the black Suzuki 250cc bike and green Granada were travelling in opposite directions along a sweeping bend in Kelvedon Road.
The Granada - driven by William Meehan, aged 72 - was heading towards Kelvedon.
Mr Meehan, of Mill Road, in Great Totham, and his wife Roberta, 69, who was a passenger in the car, were both taken to hospital in Colchester where they were treated for minor injuries and shock.
The road was closed for about four hours while emergency services dealt with the scene.
Bocking traffic police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 01376 330722. They are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the motorbike before the crash.
A separate incident left a 35-year-old dead following a road crash.
At about 10.45pm last night, a red Toyota Celica, driven by the man, along Goldhanger Road, in Heybridge, near Maldon, left the road and hit a utilities pole and cars parked outside a house.
The driver - who has not been named - was declared dead at the scene by a police doctor. As yet no other details have been released.
The road was closed for three hours while the scene was investigated and remains partially closed for the electricity board to restore the power supply cut off in the crash.
