PREMIER DIVISION

Springfield continue to set the pace at the top of the league.

Hosting Stock on a difficult wicket, Springfield initially restricted their visitors before bowling them out for 143 in the 45th and final over.

Stuart Pinkerton top scored with 30 while Scott Ellis took four for 32 and Paul Woodwards two for 19.

Springfield's reply was faltering early on at 24 for three before Scott Ellis (59no) was joined by John White (41no).

The pair carried on from where they left off the previous week as they shared an unbeaten stand of 121 as the home side made 145 for three in 37 overs.

Tillingham moved into second spot, following a three wicket win at Great Baddow, a defeat which leaves Baddow firmly entrenched at the bottom of the table.

Paul Bushnell scored 38 as Baddow were dismissed for 118, the wet wicket benefiting the seamers.

Tillingham lost wickets regularly in the reply, Bushnell claiming five for 29 from 12 overs, but Wilson (30 n.o) and a rapid 21 not out from Robbie Dennis saw the visitors to 119 for seven.

Little Waltham lost ground on the leaders after being beaten at home by South Woodham Ferrers.

Woodham totalled 198 for eight with Matt Bridger hitting an unbeaten 98.

In the reply, Phil Baxter made 41 and Dave Parry 32 as Waltham set about trying to overhaul their target, but with Julian Dorado taking three for 24 in 10 overs, they were all out, 32 runs short, for 166.

Bentley made 190 for nine at home to Hatfield Peverel, Ian Gray scoring 52 and Spencer taking four for 48.

Paul Thorogood made a dogged 42 not out in the reply and Gary Balcombe took four for 21 as Hatfield were bowled out for just 106.
