Billericay's run of good form that had seen them rise to second in the Premier League came to a shuddering halt as they were profoundly beaten on Saturday by a side that showed greater application on a difficult track.
The home side were prepared to grind out their runs against Billericay's pace bowlers and it was only when medium-pacer, Jon Walford was eventually introduced into the attack did Billericay get into the game.
Walford proceeded to bowl unchanged through 20 overs and returned the excellent figures of seven for 29.
However, the damage had already been done as the openers had grafted for an initial partnership of 80 which gave their side a solid foundation.
Billericay never had such a luxury as the home bowlers soon ripped the heart out of the innings, relegating the visitors to 10 for six at one stage, a situation they were never likely to recover from.
Billericay will be looking to bounce back this Saturday as they entertain Fives & Heronians in what will mark the halfway point of the league campaign.
