Of their last five matches, Hunters Carpet Bowls Club have won just one, this being at home to Notley Green.
They have lost at home to Pleshey and at Little Waltham and Stisted.
Hunters' latest encounter was a return match at Pleshey, with eight games being played, and after six, the score was 3-3.
Of the remaining two, Hunters team I comprising Joan Game, Bernie Godfrey, Geoff Pattenden and Daphne Ward (Skip), were losing by seven shots to one after three of the five ends.
However, they picked up two shots on end four and then took four on the final end to force a 7-7 draw.
Meanwhile Team II, comprising Maxine Poulter, Fred Felton, Les Game and Maureen Burley, were 4-2 down with one end to go.
They also secured a draw, after getting two shots on the final end.
Team III, comprising Sandy Pattenden, Don Poulter, Dennis Burley and Eric Hurrell, won both of their games, 6-1 and 8-1, and overall, both teams won three games and drew two.
On shots, Hunters won 40-35, after what was a close and exciting match.
