A geography teacher is about to fly out to Bangkok with pupils from Clacton County High School to help in an orphanage.
Ruth Hamer will be joined by pupils Tamsin Budd from year 11 and Richard Snow and Neil Thompson from the lower sixth for the adventure.
Their trip will involve walking in the Khao Yai National Park as well as working.
Each person taking part in the journey had to raise £2,300.
Pupils taking part have been helping to raise money by getting part-time jobs and working as cleaners at the school.
The group will be meeting up with students from other schools in England to fly out to Bangkok on July 27.
Miss Hamer said: "It's exciting to get the opportunity to go. Some are very jealous, other people think we're mad eating whatever and exposing ourselves to tropical diseases."
The group will be operating as part of the World Challenge and will be helping out with general duties at an orphanage in Pattaya, just outside Bangkok.
