A ceremony has been held to honour a man who has devoted 30 years of service to two Canvey schools.
Ray Howard has been a governor at Northwick Park infants school and junior school since they first opened in 1969, and a buffet tea was arranged to mark the achievement.
Mr Howard, a county and borough councillor, was joined by fellow governors and the headteachers of both schools, Jim Shovelin and Emma Dunlop.
During his three decades he has been both chairman and vice chairman of governors and is looking forward to continuing to serve the schools in Third Avenue.
