Community spirit is set to be given a boost in Billericay - all in the name of charity.

The town's second fun day, organised by the Mayflower Rotary Club, is aimed at bringing the town's residents together in support of the hardworking charities.

Up to 40 organisations are to set up stalls at Sun Corner, near the police station, on Sunday for the huge town show.

Potential rodeos can try their hand at the bucking bronco machine, while sun seekers can attempt to win a break in the sun.

With other traditional stalls including the coconut shy, every member of the family should find something to amuse them.

The idea of the day, according to organiser Gary Walker, is to bring the town closer together as a community - and raise some worthy cash.

He said: "We are hoping the weather keeps dry long enough for people to come along. The turnout will depend on the weather.

"The show was a great success last year. We will see how it goes again this year and then decide whether this should continue as an annual event.

"We are looking to bring a happy feeling to the town and to promote community spirit."

The first event of its kind was held in the town last year and proved a great success.

This year should be no different with up to 40 stalls offering goods to sell and games to play.

Entrance to the site on the day - between 10am and 4pm - is free but individual stalls may charge for activities.
