A spirited fightback by Mike Ager's rink, who picked up six shots on the last three ends to earn an 18-all draw, saw Shoebury to a 55-50 win over Alexandra in the Beharrel Shield.
Ager's men had been involved in an even affair early on, but Mark Stainer then collected 12 shots in eight ends. However, Ager's line-up then took over.
Shoebury took the points 7-3. On rink two it was very tight until the 17th when Del Dawson's rink picked up four shots to go four up with three to play.
Alexandra's Dawson collected three more over the last three for a 20-14 win over J Lester.
On rink three, a collection of 14 shots in six ends put the Shoebury rink of Phil Glibbery in control.
Peter Stainer tried in vain to fight back in the second-half, but was beaten 23-12.
In the Parrren Shield, Shoebury took the points 10-0 with a 74-44 success.
P Croucher won 22-17 after collecting 16 shots early on. Kevin Watkins then picked up nine shots in four ends to take control over J Everitt and won 21-14.
P Bates picked up 14 shots in six ends and comfortably triumphed 31-13 over R Schwendener.
Eastwood took on Essex County A in their Group Six Division One match and lost by 4.5 shots.
D Murray went down 21-15 to A Lockyer. while R Noakes edged home 17 - 16.5 against D Pilkington.
In Division Three, Eastwood entertained Belfairs A and won by 18 shots. Tony Edwards beat F Hemmings 31-10 - more than enough to compensate for J Wilde losing 21-18 to G Chudleigh.
Eastwood continued their Parren Shield slide when they lost by six shots to White Hall (54-48).
Alf Woodley, who beat A Faux 21-8, got home by 13 shots, but J Wilde was beaten 21-15 by D Hawkins and A Mason had a 25-12 success against D Murray.
In the Beharrel, Eastwood won by 26 shots. They collected all 10 points for their 76-50 win over White Hall with victory on all three rinks.
L Smith beat R Knight 24-16, while A Edwards got home 29-20 against R Brend. W Sutton won 23-14 against L Brown.
