Management and club officials returned to Layer Road yesterday to set about securing a new goalkeeper for Colchester United.
Assistant manager Steve Whitton said a keeper was the U's top priority with the new Nationwide League season only five weeks away.
At present, the U's have only last season's youth team keeper Andy Walker to play between the sticks.
Whitton said: "There's no panic. We've got a few things lined up."
QPR's Nigerian international Ademola Bankole has been linked with a move to Layer Road to replace Carl Emberson who joined Walsall earlier this month.
Neil Gregory's three-month loan spell at American side Boston Bulldogs was rubber-stamped on Monday.
He will line up alongside former Liverpool and Scotland defender Steve Nicol, who is on the Bulldogs' roster.
