The family of brave cerebral palsy sufferer Vickie Bristow are appealing for local support to raise money for her to have treatment in a Budapest clinic.

The Basildon family need items to sell in a boot sale, to raise money for the trip that will enable Vickie to have special physiotherapy.

When seven-year-old Vickie was born in Basildon Hospital, doctors said that she would be confined to a wheel chair for life and would never walk.

But since she has been going for treatment at a London clinic, she has proved them all wrong.

Vickie's mum Mandy explained: "Vickie can now walk 12 steps without the use of her walking stick, but she needs more help.

The trip to Budapest on August 5, will enable Vickie to have the best treatment and will really give her the best chance to walk without the use of her walking stick."

The Bristows'plan to hold the boot sale at the Nevendon Road car boot site in two weeks' time, but will need more items to sell.

"We really need items like clothes, prams, toys and anything else that people can spare. All the money raised from the event will go towards the treatment that Vickie needs.

"She is really looking forward to the plane journey, as she has never flown before. The rest of the family are looking forward to see her walk again."

Anyone who has items that they could give to the Bristows, can contact them on 01268 525542.
