Meet the fastest rigger in the west! Get Steve Staples to put up your aerial and you might just miss him.

For he has been named the best and fastest in a national aerial rigging contest.

Steve, 34, owner of ASTEC Aerial and Satellite Technology in Rayleigh Road, Eastwood, was awarded equipment worth almost £1,000 as a prize.

Steve, of Picket Avenue, Leigh, managed to complete an installation in just 11 minutes 23 seconds.

However, he stressed customers need not fear. This award winning speed would not prompt him to skimp on the job or rush it unnecessarily.

He said: "We normally take our time. My emphasis is always on quality of work."

Steve also won the award in 1997, along with a trophy and the title of Installer of the Year.
