Forgotten U's striker Neil Gregory has been handed a chance to start a new career in America.
The U's record signing has agreed a loan spell at Major League Soccer club Boston Bulldogs and will miss the start of the new English season.
Gregory, who has been pushed to the bottom of the strikers' pecking order at Layer Road, met Boston officials recently when in the USA on his honeymoon.
A club spokesman for the U's confirmed the 26-year-old would be in Boston until October at least but added the Americans were considering a permanent move if Gregory impresses.
Gregory proved an instant hit when he arrived at Layer Road during the 1997-98 promotion campaign on loan from Ipswich Town.
The move was made permanent in March, 1998 for £50,000.
At Wembley he and David Gregory became the first brothers to play in a play-off final.
