Members of Brentwood Swimming Clubs performed magnificently in the recent Southend Stone Trophy Gala.
In a close fought battle, they finished second to Clacton, after beating Southend, Harwich and Witham.
The U12 girls were unstoppable with Christie Mecklenburgh winning the Breaststroke, Lauren Cogdale winning the Fly, Emily Cole winning Freestyle and together with Danielle Branton were triumphant in the Freestyle and Medley relays.
The U10 relay team of Hayley Camis, Saleece Glover, Emily Fitch and Eleanor Pead stormed to victory in the Freestyle relay.
Sarah Holdsworth flew to win the U11 Fly while Christie Mecklenburgh was victorious in the U13 Backstroke and then joined Lauren Cogdale, Charlene Glover and Ellen Parkin to win both U14 Freestyle and Medley relays.
The boys carried on the winning streak with Daniel Hunt winning the U11 and U12 Backstroke, Sean Parker in his first gala won the U10 Freestyle, Christophe Moucarry U14 Breaststroke and Paul Green U14 Freestyle.
The U14 Medley relay team of Adam Hills, Christophe Moucarry, Paul Green and Andrew Cowing were winners.
The last race of the evening and the most exciting was the mixed 10x1 squadron relay with Brentwood's team of Eleanor Pead, Sean Parker, Sarah Holdsworth, Daniel Hunt, Christie Mecklenburgh, Andrew Cowing, Lauren Cogdale, Sam Innes, Charlene Glover and Paul Green winning through.
There were many other close races with the swimmers swimming in older age groups but still performing well.
Brentwood Swimming Clubs Coaches Simon Theobald and Carol McGuinness were pleased with the swimmers performance and look forward to the next time they compete.
