A lengthy Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League Annual General Meeting saw the league's long service award; the Rosebery/Pope & Smith award, presented to Richard Hiskey for his work as League Chairman over the last year and also for his outstanding service in organising the Summer League over the last ten years.
David Knights, who has been outstanding in helping Danbury E win promotion out of division three, was presented with the Charlie Wheeler Memorial Award for achieving the leading performance by a junior at the Closed tournament.
This capped a magnificent last season for David as a junior in which he also won six singles out of six for Essex junior third team in the county championships.
Occasional Chelmsford League player John Andrews who is best known as the organiser of the very popular Essex inter-league competition was honoured at the county AGM where he was presented with the county association's premier award for service to the game; the Corti-Woodcock Memorial award.
Recognition was also made to his outstanding service to the Colchester league committee, as a committee member for 22 years and as Chairman for the last 14 years.
