A delivery driver was trapped under half a tonne of glass while unloading his lorry in Chelmer Village.
Miraculously the driver, who works for Westwood Art Frames in Cornwall, was only treated for minor injuries at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, including bruising and a cut hand.
The accident happened at 4.10pm yesterday when the man parked up in Hollis Lock and got into the back of his lorry to unload the large panes of glass. Fire crews at the scene took 15 minutes to free him.
General manager of Westwood Art Frames, Darren Gardiner, said: "The driver is fine and is back on the road. He parked on a kerb, which he shouldn't have done, and a few sheets of glass fell out of the crate and dropped on his ankle."
