Plans for this year's Rochford Festival of Sport, from July 13-17, are well underway.
The 16 sports will include archery, badminton, tennis, darts, netball, pool, snooker, swimming, target golf, gymnastics, basketball, cricket, and soccer. There will also be a special disabled tournament plus an inter-schools festival.
The soccer event must rank as one of the largest in the UK, with space for 432 teams. Age groups range from under-seven to under-16. Senior tournaments include the Rayleigh, Rochford plus Open A, B and C events, plus competitions for ladies and veterans.
At the request of the Football Association, a special competition is being included for under-ten girls for the first time.
There are still some vacancies and clubs are reminded that, if their application is received by June 1, they can take advantage of the discounted rates for early registration.
