Great Britain international Sarah Claxton suffered a rare defeat in the long jump during the Inter Counties Championships at Bedford.
But the Colchester athlete had already secured victory for Essex in the 100m hurdles.
Claxton was beaten into second place by England rival Jo Wise during a weather-battered weekend.
She managed only 6.10m in the long jump compared to Wise's 6.14, but both were well below each other's best.
Claxton had already won the hurdles in 13.65 seconds, again the weather hampering her.
She said: "It was hard work in the hurdles and by the time I went in to the long jump my legs were tired. The weather did not help anyone."
Claxton must push athletics from her mind for the moment as A Level exam revision takes priority in the next fortnight.
