Braintree maintained their 100 per cent winning record on Sunday when they comfortably beat Brightlingsea by eight wickets with 10 overs to spare.
After being put in to bat, Brightlingsea lost two early wickets to the bowling of Dave Hale to leave themselves on 28 for two in the ninth over.
Brown and French took the score to 80 in the 25th over when Andy Cook had French caught by Steve Hale for 19.
From then on, Brightlingsea were unable to accelerate against the spin attack of Andy Cook and Shaun Gould with only 58 runs coming from the final 20 overs.
For Brightlingsea the only resistance came from opener Chris Brown who struck 54 while Andy Cook bowled an impressive spell of left arm spin to take four for 28 from 15 overs.
Cook was well supported by Dave Hale (2-5 from eight overs) and Shaun Gould (2-52 from 16 overs).
Despite the slow pitch, openers Dave Denny and Andy Cook put on 45 for the first wicket in 23 overs when Cook was dismissed for 25.
Chris Warn was then adjudged lbw the next ball.
Dave Denny then decided to blitz the Brightlingsea attack as he surpassed his fourth half century of the season to finish undefeated on 85 (two sixes and 12 fours) and together with Nigel Sheldrake (17 not out) he helped Braintree cruise to their winning target in the 35th over.
