A dedicated member of Witham Running Club has passed a real milestone - the completion of his 100th marathon.
Peter Burns who ran his first marathon just eight years ago, crossed his 100th finishing line at the recent 26-mile Halstead marathon, after less than four hours.
"I finished it but the time was a bit disappointing, as I've suffered some injuries recently," said Peter from Avenue Road, Witham.
Peter's conquests include marathons in Prague, Spain, Holland and Snowdon, but he is modest about his achievements.
"I don't really train much, but for the last few years I have been running up to 22 marathons in a year.
I'm not very fast - I just plod along, but I really enjoy it. I started running when I found out I was too old to play football any more - I had to find something else to keep me occupied."
Peter is pictured with one of his cups from a previous marathon.
