More than 200 archers were in action at Colchester over the weekend, shooting for places in the English squad for the European Nations' Tournament to be held in Nottingham in two weeks' time.
Archers including national champions and Olympic squad members from as far afield as Jersey, Scotland and Wales flocked to Mill Road where they were competing on 55 targets over the two days through all kinds of weather.
Scorching sunshine greeted the competitors on Sunday but the windy and rainy conditions became so bad yesterday that some scoresheets had to be dried out with a hair drier supplied by one of the competitors.
Barbara Knight of the organising club, Colchester and District, said: "It was a very good tournament despite the difficult conditions, but we always carry on.
"It is a very prestigious shoot for the club to stage - one of the best, if not the best in the country."
