Ipswich was the venue for round three in the BMX Regional Summer Series and six of the Braintree BMX Club riders took part.
First out was Matthew Sewell, 6, who started off impressively with a third place in the first moto but he was only able to take a fifth and a fourth in the other races before a hard fought race to finish fourth in the final.
Matthew's brother Stephen, 8, was leading the Series in his age group after two rounds and rode well all afternoon but couldn't manage any wins, and had to be content with four well earned second places.
Kelvin Vant, 11, was up against riders a year older than himself but took two fourths and a third place with a fourth in the final.
Alex Humphrey, 14, rode hard to get second places in all his three motos, but starting from his least favourite lane, eight, came fifth in the final.
Ryan Everitt was racing in separate motos to Alex and did well to finish with a second, and two thirds.
With a determined effort in the final he was able to get through to a creditable third place.
Dean Gray, 17, had mixed fortunes in his motos collecting a superb second, a fourth and a sixth place which put him through to the "A" final.
However, an unusually bad start at the gate saw Dean unable to improve on seventh position.
On June 6, the Braintree riders will be competing at the Royston racetrack and if anyone is interested in the Braintree Club's Tuesday evening practice and race sessions, they are invited to turn up at the local track at 7pm.
