A man with two replacement hips is to take part in a sponsored walk.

Former British Rail worker Tony Suddery will be walking Clacton seafront this weekend for an orthopaedic and arthritic organisation.

Mr Suddery, of Tudor Green, Jaywick, will be making the trek from Martello Bay to Clacton Pier and back on Sunday at 3pm to raise money for the Wishbone Trust.

The trust provides funding for research into and operations on orthopaedic and arthritic ailments.

Mr Suddery, 61, has had both hips replaced and his knees realigned and is shortly due to go into hospital again for another operation on one of his knees.

He had to retire from his job as a clerical officer in 1995 suffering from Pagetts disease, a softening of the bones, which he has had for 26 years.

Mr Suddery uses a stick to get about and a wheelchair for longer distances. He has been pledged £110 and wife Janette's colleagues from the Co-op in Station Road plan to join him.
