A seven-year-old boy cannot find a place in school after being expelled for hitting a teacher.

Steven Gill, of Windmill Park, Clacton, was expelled from Coppins Green Primary School in November last year

Mother Debbie is appalled she cannot find a school for her son, who was permanently excluded after completing six weeks of year three.

She said: "No school will accept him in the Clacton area. Every time that I have gone to a school I can't even get past reception."

Mrs Gill said she had only been able to speak to one headmaster in Clacton and that was at the Burrsville School.

She added being excluded has also affected her son.

She said: "He goes to bed crying each night. He's got no friends, nothing."

Essex County Council education spokesman Mike Barnett said: "There is a natural reluctance of local schools to receive a child with a serious disciplinary problem so this could take some time."

He said the council was aware of the impact of the loss of schooling and a prolonged absence.

"We are looking to secure a place as soon as possible," he added.
