Matt Holland yesterday denied he is about to move to Fulham for £2 million.
The Division Two champions are reported to have made an offer for the outstanding Ipswich midfielder with manager Paul Bracewell hoping to tie the deal up within 48 hours, but Town and the player deny any move.
Holland said: "I know nothing about it. The only thing I'm expecting to happen in the next 48 hours is for my wife Paula to have a baby.
"I may speak to my agent today to find out what is happening, but as far as I'm concerned I'm staying at Ipswich. I like it at the club and I like living in Colchester."
Blues boss George Burley said: "There is nothing in it. We have heard nothing from Fulham."
Holland has played a record 113 consecutive games for Ipswich since joining from Bournemouth for £800,000 two years ago.
Burley will have to wait for another couple of weeks to see if keeper Richard Wright and former England coach John Gorman are to sign new deals.
The Ipswich manager has offered both new terms but each have asked for time to think it over. Wright, who has two years left on his contract, has been offered an extension and will give Burley his answer when he returns from international duty with England for the Euro 2000 qualifiers.
Gorman, who was Glenn Hoddle's assistant during last year's World Cup, is keen to be a manager in his own right. The Scot, who joined Portman Road in April, will tell Burley his decision after a family holiday.
Keeper Lee Bracey has signed for another year but Dutch winger Bobby Petta who is free to leave under the Bosman Ruling is still negotiating a new contract. Since turning down a £500,000 move to Barnsley no other offers have come in for him.
