Rayne visited old rivals Hullbridge on Saturday, and looking to carry on their good form from the previous week.
Rayne batted first and after the loss of Dawson, Mick Richardson and Mark Sainsbury dominated the Hullbridge attack.
They took Rayne to 147 in the 28th over, setting the foundations for a score in excess of 250.
Disaster then struck as both were removed by Taylor, Richardson for 67 and Sainsbury for 66.
Worse was to come as three more wickets fell for the addition of just five runs, leaving Rayne on 152 for six.
Taylor claimed four of the wickets without a run being scored from his bowling.
Neil Cheatle (23) and Ian Clark (15) batted sensibly and with the help of Richard Dawson (16no), they took Rayne to 214 for eight from their allotted overs.
Hullbridge lost two early wickets as they set about reaching their target.
Palmer (33) and Locke (37) then shared a third wicket stand of 62 as the hosts moved towards 100 in the 28th over.
Rayne then snatched the initiative to reduce Hullbridge to 154 for seven in the 38th over.
Oxley batted well as he helped move his side within sight of victory, and they needed 13 runs off the final over.
Mark Sainsbury took the responsibility of bowling the final over, and went for just six runs - leaving Oxley unbeaten on 60.
Falp (3-66) was the pick of the Rayne bowlers, and Graham Smith, playing his first game for the first team, claimed four wickets behind the stumps.
