A man lay dead in the wreckage of his car for more than five hours before police discovered him.
Andrew Russen, 43, of Heron Way, Brentwood, was found by Thames Valley Police in his BMW Cabriolet at the bottom of a steep embankment off the west-bound carriageway of the M4 at Englefield on Saturday morning.
A police traffic patrol found the wrecked car after spotting debris on the hard shoulder.
They believe the accident happened at around 3.50am. The car left the carriageway but police who are launching a full traffic investigation and appealing for witnesses, do not know why. They believe no other vehicle was involved.
