There was no water about but Tiptree Road Running Club's Alan Fisher (better known in running circles as the 'Flying Fish') stormed to success around the Halstead Road Run-ners' Marathon course at the weekend.
In sometimes windy conditions and on a testing, hilly course Fisher had a fantastic run to dominate the event, leading from the second mile to win the race.
The winning margins of some five minutes from the runner-up and 13 minutes from the third placed runners emphasised the effort and it was only a few minutes adrift from the course record.
The Surprise Pie & Pint Multi-Terrain 15 on Sunday was an interesting event, advertised as being 15 miles with an entry form stating 16 and the organisers, Colchester Harriers AC, suggesting it was more like 17 to 18 miles long.
The race was based at the Chequers Pub in Great Blakenham, Suffolk, taking in some glorious countryside and the event was well organised.
Tiptree were represented with two runners who both managed to finish inside the three hour mark.
Malcolm Bailey recorded 2:56:26 and Chris Applegate 2:56:26.
