A Mercedes driver left the number plate of his car at the scene of an accident when he failed to stop after a collision with a motorcyclist.
Trevor Hayes, 42, of Writtle Road, Chelmsford, admitted driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after an accident when he appeared before Chelmsford magistrates.
He recorded 101mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Andrew Perry, prosecuting, told the court police officers attended an accident outside the Plough and Sail pub on the A130 at East Hanningfield in April.
One of the drivers had driven off but left behind the number plate of his vehicle.
A search was made for the car and police officers saw the Mercedes with no front registration plate. Mr Perry said the defendant agreed he was involved in the accident.
David Lawton, mitigating, said Hayes had three shorts in the pub, but the reason the reading was so high was because he had drunk quite a lot the day before.
He pulled out of the pub but failed to see the motorcyclist who was approaching.
Magistrates imposed an interim disqualification and adjourned the case until June 10 for pre-sentence reports.
"Although he left the scene, he had not left the injured driver because other vehicles had stopped," said Mr Lawton.
