Bogus electricity workers have stolen a pensioner's life savings.
The fraudsters went to the 81-year-old woman's home in Harwich Road, Colchester, at 12.15pm yesterday.
One of them said he was from the electricity board and asked her to pull out the plugs from all her electrical appliances.
While she was doing this it is believed an accomplice came inside and stole £1,000 from a wardrobe in the woman's bedroom.
The first man was white, aged 19 or 20, 5ft 6ins tall, of medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing a shirt and tie.
Police have repeated warnings for householders to check callers' credentials and if in doubt to phone the police.
