Sunday sees a lot of tough men looking and acting even tougher.
Television personality Geoff Capes, who has held the title of the World's Strongest Man twice is in Maldon to host the Home Counties heat of the UK's Strongest Man competition.
The former Olympic medallist has designed the events for the heat and will be the compere.
It is the first heat of the 1999 tour and will see professional and amateur athletes compete against each other for the first of eight places in the televised finals, to be screened on Sky Sports.
Geoff said: "The UK's Strongest Man is the only event of its kind that is 'open to all' and allows professionals and amateurs to compete equally.
"These competitions are open to anyone who wants to 'have a go' from farmers and builders to accountants and policemen."
Organised in conjunction with Maldon Council, the event at the town's Promenade Park will be part of a Family Fun Day, which also features a falconry display from Ye Olde Red Tail Falconry Display, side shows, trade stands and a beer tent.
The birds have been featured in films such as Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves and more recently on television in London Weekend's Blind Date!
Entry is free for the day although normal parking charges will apply.
The event takes place between 11am and 3.30pm.
