A girl has been recovering at home after an apparently motiveless attack in Billericay.
The 14-year-old was walking up Bell Hill at 10.15 on Tuesday when she was shoved to the ground by a man on a bicycle who had sped up to her from behind.
The attacker then rode off - nothing was stolen from the girl.
She was taken to Basildon Hospital with a badly sprained arm and shoulder and a bruised back. It is thought the injuries may have been worsened by an existing medical condition.
A spokesman said: "She was in a considerable amount of pain at the time and because of her condition it was a potentially serious incident."
The attacker is described as being a white man, around 5ft 10ins tall, wearing gold-rimmed glasses and black jean-type trousers. He was well-built and was riding a silver-painted mountain bike.
