A Crown Prosecution Service clerk has walked free from court after a magistrate threw out charges brought against her under the Official Secrets Act.
Deborah Cahill, 31, of Eastern Avenue, Benfleet, was jointly charged with Det Con Michael Charman, 46, and Det Insp John Redgrave, 45 - both Metropolitan police offices - alleging conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
The trio appeared at Bow Street Magistrates Court but a magistrate decided there was insufficient evidence to go ahead with a trial.
Ms Cahill was accused of unlawfully showing Mr Charman and Mr Redgrave a set of transcripts about a caution interview with a suspect.
The prosecution argued that the action was likely to affect the detection of crime or the apprehension of criminals - an offence under the Official Secrets Act 1989. But after legal submissions, the case was thrown out.
Mr Charman and Mr Redgrave were charged with aiding and abetting Ms Cahill to commit the alleged crime.
