Fifteen Chelmsford paddlers travelled to Bungay in Norfolk for the Waveney canoe marathon last Sunday with a mixture of successes for the Chelmsford contingent.
In Division 5/6 K2 Tony Chapman/Roger Edwards finished third only 17 seconds ahead of Dean Williams/Graham Howe having found the better spots for portaging.
The other double crew from Chelmsford was the C2 of Dave Jeffery/Dave Clark who won Division Nine in 49 min 21 sec.
Mike Head took 82 mins 45 sec to finish fifth in Division Five K1 while James Byam-Shaw took another 12 minutes to come third in Division 6 K1.
There were five Chelmsford paddlers in Division 8, K1. Highest placed was Joanne Edwards in third in 43 min 09 sec after a disastrous start.
Chris Howe's better start kept him in sixth position at the finish closely followed by Dave Groves in seventh half a minute later.
Alec Richards and John Brand each crossed the line at 12 second intervals in eighth and ninth places.
