Chelmer Cycling Club's Dave Nock was the fastest rider in the Essex C.R.A. "25" on Sunday, clocking 57.02, with Nick Hastler, of the Essex Roads Club (57.06) close behind.
However, the awards in this event are for the fastest team of five and Hastler the had honour of leading the winning team.
Their nearest challengers were Southend and County Wheelers and Becontree Wheelers.
Chelmer CC dropped to fourth when Garry Barton went off course finally finishing in 1.15.17.
Other members of the Chelmer team were Bill Broadfield (58.49), Dick Wall (1.1.45) and Andy Grant (1.6.17) and the new E5 course proved to be hard on a windy day.
