Stewart Marshall clearly remembers his anger when the news reached him that his brother had been murdered.
He was working in America at the time and was initially told John had simply disappeared.
But a day later a message arrived to say John - a close pal of TV actor Bill Murray - had been found shot dead in his Range Rover.
Mr Marshall said: "My prime concern was to get back from America. At first I was pretty angry about what had happened.
"But it was one of those things and once it's been done, it's been done. Nothing will change that."
He immediately flew back to England to hear the gruesome details of John's still-unsolved death while his widow, Toni, was comforted by friends and family.
