Colchester's Matthew Street just missed out in the Strachan English Open Snooker Championship, losing to Leicester's Eddie Manning 8-7 on the final black.
Manning made nine breaks of 40 plus in the match, Street five. Eight of the breaks came in the first session as the Midlander led 5-2.
Twenty-one year old Street, who had survived three last-frame finishes at the last 16 stage, knocked in a 62 in the third.
The Colchester player trailed 5-1 but then began his fightback, drawing level at 6-6.
At 7-7, the match was went to a decider, but a tricky green proved a problem for Street and from then Manning obliged with a clearance, taking the pink to the green pocket off three cushions finishing perfectly for the black at the pink pocket.
