A hovercraft is being built at Brightlingsea.
But the craft is not being constructed by engineers in a giant hangar - it's being built at school by youngsters.
About 12 students at Colne Community College have just started work on the millennium project.
It is a single-seat sports Hovercraft powered by a petrol engine.
Jean-Pierre Lewis, the teacher in charge, said students of all ages have been working as a team to complete the project which started in December.
Mr Lewis said: "This is a fascinating project and the students feel considerable pride as the hovercraft begins to take shape. I am delighted they are giving up so much time and working well as a team."
