Southend Council has been given a special certificate of thanks - in recognition of its support of The Prince's Trust.
Mayor Councillor Nora Goodman was on hand to pick up a certificate of thanks from the trust.
The charity helps young people aged between 18 and 30 set themselves up in business - and receives an annual donation from the council.
The presentation was made at the Sutton Road shop of Robert Clarke, one young entrepeneur who has been helped by the trust.
He was awarded a loan of £4,000 and has since started up his own shop, named Fingers and Fumbs, which rents out PlayStation games seven days a week.
The trust is looking for volunteer business mentors to help support more youngsters starting their own enterprises.
Call 01268 728078 if your can help.
