A 36-year-old man was today arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man and a woman were stabbed in a Westcliff house.
The woman, believed to be in her 30s, and the man were taken to Southend Hospital suffering from what police describe as "serious but not life threatening injuries".
Forensic officers arrived at the semi-detached house in front of the Shalyn Cattery in Prince Avenue, Westcliff, this morning.
They were looking for evidence in an attempt to discover what went on in the early hours.
An Essex Police spokesman said police could not release exact details of what happened but confirmed a 36-year-old man was in custody being questioned.
She said: "Police were called to the house at 12.15am this morning and at the moment it appears to be a domestic incident."
Investigation - the taped-off home where two people received knife injuries last night. Forensic officers spent today examining the house for clues.
