Southern Area cruiserweight champion Dominic Negus, from Havering-atte-Bower, has been forced to pull out of Saturday's scheduled British title eliminator contest at Bethnal Green against the oddly-named Chris P. Bacon.
Negus was injured while sparring with the British and Common-wealth champion Bruce Scott.
His trainer, Lenny Butcher, confirmed to postponement of the contest on Tuesday morning. "Dominic popped a rib joint while sparring with Bruce Scott," he said.
"Dominic was doubled up and found it difficult to breathe and talk. Naturally, he's gutted, but the fight will be rescheduled.
"However, it will be a good four weeks until Dominic can resume full training."
