Clacton Sailing Club held its annual "Cruise West" on Sunday with eight boats travelling to the Martello Point beach from the club house at Holland Haven.
The chilly breeze in the morning made for an uncomfortable and easy journey to Martello Bay. The strong but warmer winds made the return trip a more pleasurable but harder sail home.
At a recent meeting of the Tendring Sports Council, Edd Notman of the Clacton Sailing Club was awarded a grant for £100 towards the cost of his recent instructors training with the Royal Yachting Association, the ruling body for all major sailing events in this country.
This training means that Edd can go forward with more training with children and adults within the club.
