Harwich Amateur Boxing Club's most experienced boxer, 12-year-old Marcus Poston, travelled to Purfleet in order to take on Eltham ABC's Billy Arter.
Marcus showed signs of ring rust in the opening round in this contest, his first for two months, as he struggled to find the measure of his south London foe.
The second session was a different affair entirely with Marcus scoring with accurate right-hand counter punches.
The third and last round saw Marcus completely dominate, even turning his opponent on to the ropes and then unloading with an eye-catching four-punch combination. All three judges awarded Marcus victory with scores of 60-57 (twice) and 60-56.
This was the Harwich boy's fourth win a row and, with his confidence growing with every bout, he could be a major player in next year's National Schoolboy Championships.
Eleven-year-old debutant Craig Bennett showed plenty of spirit and heart in his bout with Ashley Gibbons from Tilbury Dockers ABC before the referee called a halt to the proceedings in the second, due to a nose injury suffered by the Harwich youngster.
