Soap stars Patsy Palmer and Sid Owen drew curious crowds when EastEnders went on location in Leigh old town.

The pair - Bianca and Ricky Butcher in the hit BBC1 drama - were filming scenes for a future storyline featuring their characters' new baby, Liam.

Fans were able to watch from outside the Crooked Billet pub as the screen family went for a short stroll along the sea wall, before sitting nearby and then going to a cafe.

Scenes were also shot in and around Southend at a number of locations, including the pier, seafront and town centre.

Other characters being filmed included Bianca's screen mum, Carol Jackson, who is making a return to the soap, and on-screen brother and sister, Robbie and Sonia.

The episodes are due to be broadcast during the week beginning Monday, June 21.
