Lifelong Colchester United supporters Dawn and Roger Dicker got the result they wanted at Layer Road.
The diehard fans did not want to miss the last home game of the season - and held their wedding reception at Layer Road.
The football bug was passed on to Roger by his father Ivor and he kept in regular contact with the club during the time he worked as a stockbroker in Tokyo.
For several years he has sponsored the matchball at the last home game of the season, flying from Japan for the event.
Four years ago he and wife Dawn announced their engagement in the programme ... so family were not surprised when the hospitality suite at Layer Road was chosen as the venue for the wedding breakfast.
Club secretary Marie Partner said: "The wedding took place at Colchester Register Office at 11am and was followed by a sit-down meal for family and friends at the club.
"Then everyone watched the match, including the bride in her wedding dress."
Mrs Partner added: "We may well look at getting a licence to actually marry people at the club when we have our new ground with bigger and better facilities."
