Orienteers from Essex showed their keen sense of direction at the East Anglian Championships in Sandringham, Norfolk last weekend with five competitors crowned champions.
Joanne West narrowly defeated fellow Essex Stragglers Orienteering Society team mate Emma Johnson of Chelmsford, to claim the girls under 13 class,.
Eleanor West also came out on top in the under 17 event, defeating Essex rivals Suzy and Nicole Robertson.
The other three winners came from the adult section with Martin Sellens (men's over 45), Jenny Collyer (women's over 50) and long-standing club member Jack Isbester (men's over 65) all triumphant.
Notable showings among the juniors also included a second for Stephen Pugh (boy's under 17), and third for Mirian Pugh (girl's under 19).
There were also encouraging performances from Hazel Tant, Katie Sellens, Sebastian Pugh (under 13) and David West (under 15) ahead of next month's British championships.
Meanwhile, second spots were achieved by Sue Carton (women's over 45), Pauline Stevens (women's over 70) and Julie Ferris (women's open), while Clive Tant (men's over 40), Hilary Sellens (women's over 40) and John Collyer (men's over 50) all finished fourth.
