Braintree & Bocking Swimming Club have gathered in their biggest ever crop of trophies at The Essex Championships.

Just three swimmers were responsible for winning 13 trophies in the men and ladies events this year.

Clare Carter, 17, swimming as a senior for the first year, won six senior events collecting six trophies as a result.

Clare won The Martin Trophy for 4x50m IM, the John Lewis Trophy for 100m back, the Sutton Cup for 200m free, the Pratten Trophy for 50m free, the Pitt Trophy for 200m back and a trophy for 100m free.

During these Championships, Clare also achieved the qualifying times for the Senior National Swimming Championships, to be held in July, and has great hopes of achieving the qualifying times for the European Championships when she competes there.

John Dilley, 16, swimming his last year as a junior, won five junior events collecting five trophies: the Bourne Trophy for 1500m free, and trophies for being first junior in 100m free, 200m free, 400m free and 4x50m IM.

Jennie Butler, 14, racing against 16 year olds, came through as junior champion in two events and won the Eddowes Trophy for 100m fly and the Coote Trophy for 50m free.

Both John and Jennie have many qualifying times for the National Age Group Championships in August.

Braintree & Bocking SC Coach, Sean Eveleigh, was justifiably proud of all three swimmers and said: ''If their commitment to training continues as it has done in the past, there is no reason why they should not achieve excellent results and times in the Nationals."
